Metro Route 7 Upgrade
When Metro brief came across my desk announcing that Route 7 (Halswell to Queenspark) would soon run every 10 minutes on weekdays, I was stoked. Having just moved to live in Christchurch from Dunedin, and a daily user of Route 7, I’ve seen firsthand how congested and popular the busses are.
Our strategy focused on raising awareness among audiences along Route 7. We focussed on transit, pedestrians, and retail collectives along the pathway. We used large-format street posters and bus shelter posters at key locations along the route, along with placements in local publications, and retail precincts to ensure maximum reach among Route 7 existing users, and potential new users of public transport.
We also realised the potential to drive community engagement and pass on information, editorial in these local papers ensured audiences are kept up-to-date, improvements seen in a positive light whilst also getting an opportunity to provide feedback for a chance at win a share of $350 in bus card top-ups.
Seeing firsthand this campaign take shape across the Route 7 has been truly exciting. Each day, I see the work we’ve done, and the added benefit of a smoother, quicker journey is a welcome bonus. Great work Metro.
